My work begins with understanding people: what they want to accomplish, what they know, what concerns them, and what circumstances shape their decisions. I listen carefully, ask questions, and work to establish a shared understanding of the problem before determining how best to proceed.
I bring this approach to research, project coordination, and instruction. As a project lead with Just Cities, I coordinated a multidisciplinary team of researchers and community partners, established workplans, managed communications, and oversaw deliverables. As an instructor at UC Berkeley and with Compass Education Group, I've helped learners navigate unfamiliar concepts by adapting my explanations to their needs and identifying where additional guidance is most useful.
These experiences have also taught me that effective leadership requires judgment when circumstances depart from expectations. While administering standardized examinations at Compass, I've managed unexpected operational challenges, guided newer colleagues, and made decisions that balance established procedures with the demands of the situation.
Across these settings, my objective has remained consistent: to help people understand their circumstances, make informed decisions, and move toward their goals with greater confidence.
